I joined the Lee County School District in August 2012 and currently serve as the Coordinator of Lee County Career and Technology Center, the Site Coordinator for Project Lead the Way (PLTW), and the Work-Based Learning Coordinator (WBL). I was nominated as the Teacher of the Year for three consecutive years and mentored first-year teachers during that time. I am the proud parent of two children: Qayshawn and Tatum.
My previous experiences in the world of business have been linked to the education community, business, and industry. I was born and raised in Lee County and attended West Lee Elementary School. I attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School in June 1992. I attended Saint Leo University, Shaw AFB, SC, where I received an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology. I continued my undergraduate studies at Troy State University, Shaw AFB, SC, receiving a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a minor in Human Resources plus an additional 30 hours towards my second Master’s Degree in Science Management with a concentration in Organizational Leadership.
I have had the honor of conducting an interview with Mr. Jim Clyburn, U.S. Representative for South Carolina's 6th Congressional District, along with the Media Literacy Team at the Career Center. I have also had an opportunity to interview the late Al Jarreau, Sheila E., and many other celebrities."
My favorite motto is from Maya Angelou: "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. Please remember that your difficulties do not define you. They simply strengthen your ability to overcome.”
